Drones, not roads or railways will connect Africa

Just read this brilliant article in http://www.nridigital.com/brite-magazine/issue9.html - a guy called Jonathan Ledgard (I don't think he's the sports commentator of the same name) is setting up "droneports" like airports for small African towns that could turn into transport hubs and much else besides. It sounds crazy, but is it crazy enough to work?
